Why Blog?

Well, basically to force myself to not just input (read, watch, listen) all the time but also to try and process all the information I consume and produce output from it.

If it is of use to anyone else it is a lovely but unintended side-effect (no offence, dear reader).

Why a Website?

• To keep a toe in the world of Ruby - This site is created with the Static Site Generator (SSG) Bridgetown.
• To mess around with framework-less HTML, CSS and JS
• To own my content and (for what little this blog is worth), to contribute to the open internet as opposed to some proprietary social network.

Why does it look like DOS

I like Text UIs (TUIs). In an era of overwhelming visual noise and shiny web applications, there’s something refreshing about returning to the simplicity of the text-based era. When I interact with TUIs it reminds of a time when computers were a wonderful “bicycle of the mind”, rather than the soulless, hyper-optimised attention-void we know them as now.

What to expect

Well, I’m not sure. Basically, I like programming and technology and I like language learning, so I might blog about those two things but we’ll see…
